Delta Dawn recorded in 1973 - by Helen Reddy

This song was released in 1973, was the number one hit in the US, Canada and Australia.  Helen Reddy was born in Australia but achieved international fame after she sang "I Don't Know How To Love Him" in 1971.  This song was from the rock opera written by Andrew Lloyd Webber (lyrics by Tim Rice).  Then she went on and recorded "I Am Woman" - that reached Billboard No.1 in 1972!

She gave a farewell performance in 2002 and claimed she would never perform again due to the fact that her voice had "deepened to a lower key" and she said she might not be able to sing her hits again, hits such as "Delta Dawn"!
